{December 8, 2007}   Christmas Party

So we went and we had a really good time. I found G a pair of black slacks with a deep green button down and then a Black Pea Coat so he looked completely tasty. I wore a short black dress with a red strip flowing down the center. It is very pretty and festive. We met up with friends at the party with was held at the Vault. The food tasted wonderful. They offered a choice of roast beef or ham, two different salads, a fruit platter, mashed or scalloped potatoes, and vegetables. I was rather impressed because often times you find these types of social events do not have the highest level of food. I was given my certificate for being a support spouse and then they did the raffle which meant G and I sat and won nothing (thats okay the prizes were nothing to write home about) and then we left. We ended up spending the rest of the night hanging out with our friends who were watching the kids and playing Halo on xbox which I have learned I am terrible at. Overall it was a wonderful night with a lot of laughs and good company. Tonight we are hoping to make it out for the lights festival at the zoo. The sun is shining so I think that we may even go cut down the Christmas tree… we will have to see. Thats it for now.later

{December 8, 2007}   Working out

So tomorrow will be the end of my first workout week in a very long time. I am not a “big” girl or anything but I am finding that with age and three dozen triple chocolate chunk brownies that my body is starting to hold on to some of those pounds in all of the wrong places. I do not mind gaining weight but I do mind gaining it and not doing anything to maintain my girlish figure, so I have started hitting the gym. I have also not been smoking which is a huge deal. I have not really stated out loud that I am quitting only because I don’t want to deal with the comments of “oh that is why you are being a bitch” or “well that explains it” as well as not letting anyone be disappointed if I fail again. I was really proud of myself though today because I was around my friend and did not smoke even though she did and I also managed to run for 5 min on the treadmill. Now to many of you that may seem like nothing but for me that is like climbing Mount Everest. Tomorrow I plan on doing another five minutes and then next week I would like to increase to 6. We will just have to wait and see. Tomorrow is the Holiday Party with my husbands work so I have to go shopping and find a nice little dress, nothing to formal just simple and plain. … Okay I took a break and ran to the store and found a cute red and black dress…. nothing to fancy just a simple black dress. Now I just have to take the hubby to get black slacks and a nice button up tomorrow afternoon. YAA I am excited now. Well I am sure there was more to ramble on but I have since forgotten so I will end it here and say good night.I am off to shower and hit the bed.later

{December 5, 2007}   Week at a glance

Okay lets see I don’t think I have been on here since Thanksgiving so I will give you a run down of the past two weeks (has it really been that long already). My mother and brother flew back home on Monday the 26th of November. They landed around midnight and then headed their separate ways to go back to their normal lives. I think my sister and I managed to sneak in  (really we are not that sneaky) the topic of my brother moving to Portland soon. I don’t know it he will ever do it but I think we did manage to peak his interest. My beautiful mother was kind enough to buy my family a new set of living room furniture. It will be the first time that I have brand new couches and I want you to understand how truly exciting that is for me… no more falling asleep on the love seat that went out with the 70s. I do miss the family being here but at the same time I really love my house. Now that the family is gone we have jumped back into sports and life in general. Little D is playing basketball for the first time and seems to be doing really well. His first game was on this past Saturday and even though he only played for part of the game he walked away feeling like he just played for the NBA. He loved it and of course I loved watching him play. Jrod is doing well also he is taking off from the sports so that he can focus on school. He seems to be struggling with his writing skills. Instead of being at a 7th grade level he is stuck in elementary school. Monkey is Monkey she is a little ball of fire who keeps me on my toes. I love the time I get to spend with her each day. I am still fighting the battle that being a stay at home mom is a worthy job. My husband and I just cannot seem to agree on that point. He wants me to bring home a check that puts a dollar to my value and I feel like what I am investing into our children is worth more than any company could ever pay me. Oh well what can you do.

Tonight the family went to see the tree lighting here in our area as well as let the kids get gifts from the group running the event. It was nice to go and do a family activity because those types of things just make me feel good. I am thinking that this weekend we will go ahead and get the tree only because I don’t want the weather to get so bad that we are unable to find a good day to do it. Other than that I think life has been pretty normal. I did have a girl’s night out last Friday but I will have to talk about that later because right now mom duties are calling in the form of a two year old and I have to go.
